GK Youth build is looking for worthy “everyday heroes,” and would like to recognize them with an award (this could be your friend, neighbor, co-worker or it can also be “you”).

Contest starts: May 1, 2008 Ends on: March 31, Prizes: 1st – Free trip to Philippines to participate with the GK YouthBuild, 2nd prize: Ipod 3rd prize: DVD Portable player and several other consolations prizes.
Winners every other month:
The names of the eligible nominees will be drawn starting October 1, 2008 and every month until February 2009 (monthly or every other month – and the lucky winners will receive consolation prizes (e.g. gift cards or a recognition certificate) Grand prizes will be announced on May 31, 2009.

Mechanics: Anyone can nominate a hero (no age requirements). It is open to all. However, the hero you nominate must be between 14-35 years old to qualify. Heroes will be asked to complete a consent form allowing Ancop to use their names and photographs and/or testimonial or information provided through a personal interview or audi/video recording in future contest promotions. Attach a 500 word essay outlining why this person is a "hero". Help the selection committee get to know this person as you do. Be as specific as you can about how this hero helped you or others in the school or community at large. Explain why this hero is a good candidate to win. Help the committee to understand what makes a person a hero and explain how the hero you are nominating meets these criteria for greatness. Be as specific as you can by giving examples of things your hero said or did that helped you and other students/co-workers. Your examples may include classroom or extra curricular activities, community or environmental work. A photo would be helpful. Submission entry must be verifiable and certified by a qualified person.
